8 Safety Tips to Prevent Online Transactions Fraud
With the growing power of internet today, online transactions are done like as we do in offline cash transaction. Transferring money from one account to another, ordering pizzas, mobile phones, vegetables, fruits, etc. everything is done online. With the help of online transactions we don’t have to stand in a queue for making payments and hence we save a lot of time. 

Shopping has never been easier or more convenient for consumers.  For doing online transaction you just need three things; A computer/mobile phone, internet connection and your credit card/ATM card/Bank account info.

Overall Online transaction is nice and convenient. But since it’s done so easily it does come with certain risks. Most of us hear of people being robbed at ATMs, or having their cards cloned. So online transactions are also a point of vulnerability.

In this post I will discuss how to be safe and stay away from online fraud while doing online transactions.

1. Always make payment through trusted sites


Always make a habit of payment through trusted websites only. Never give your password on a new website. Always make sure you are paying through a secured gateway or through a trustworthy online transaction site such as PayPal, Paytm, ccavenue or any other.

2. Always use secured connection


Always check secured connection when you are making an online transaction. You will see https:// instead of http:// just before website name in address bar. Always check for a secured symbol in front of https:// which means it’s a secured connection. For example check out https://www.amazon.com.

3. Never Save Passwords


When you do some online transaction, browser asks your permission to save your password. Never save card details or password. This may be used by hackers to use your information and you may loose your pocket.

4. Always Use Personal Computers:


Never use public computers or cafe for online transaction. You must use personal computers or mobile phones for online transactions. Computers in Cafe are like public libraries where everyone has access to everything .Public computers may save your usernames, passwords, and cookies saved to their browsers. So you are prone to online transaction fraud. So always use a personal computer for online transaction.

5. Use Strong Password


Always use different password for different website. These password should be strong enough to guess by the hackers. The best way to achieve this is by making it long and a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters like !@#$%&.

Never create a password that contain your name, or your date of birth or mobile number.

6. Make Use of Virtual Keyboard


If you have liable to use public computers for online transaction then always make use of Virtual Keyboards. There are chances that physical keyboard are connected by a key logger software that will save your bank details like passwords,etc. These Virtual Keyboards are designed for high security purposes, and hence you can make a safe and secured online transaction.

7. Install latest Antivirus software


Prevention is better than cure and the same is true for all online transactions. The Internet is full of malware, spam and spyware. The best protection to avoid your online transaction security being compromised is to use good antivirus software.

8. Keep track of your transactions


Keep record of your bank account statement so that you can track when, where & how many transaction has been done, where your credit card/ATM card has been used. If you find any suspicious transactions in your account statement, report it to your bank as soon as possible.

  1. This is good advice for those who does not want to get in a trouble. Safety is most important in such cases. I have installed the keylogger https://www.refog.com/ and watched my wife's activity on the Internet cuz, recently disappear large sums of money from my credit card. And I don`t know the reasons for these disappearances.
